Dictionary term

Domain Name

Also called domain

Web/DevBeginner

A human-readable address on the internet made of labels separated by dots (such as app.example.com), registered through a registrar and mapped to servers through DNS.

In plain English

The name people type to reach your website, like example.com, instead of a string of numbers.

Analogy

Like a business name on a sign, while DNS is the directory that says where the building actually is.

Why it matters

Clients want funnels, apps and email on their own branded domain, and every one of those needs DNS records pointing the domain at the right service.

In practice

You point book.clientco.com at a GHL calendar page and app.clientco.com at a Vercel project, each with its own DNS record.
